Common House Mouse
Small, slender rodents (2-4 inches long) with large ears and a long, thin tail with sparse hair. Usually grey or light brown with a pale belly.
Small Rat (Roof Rat / Juvenile Norway Rat)
Larger than a mouse (6-8 inches) with coarser fur, thicker tail, and smaller ears relative to their head. Blunt or pointed snout depending on the species.
House Flies
Dark grey flies with four dark stripes on the thorax and large reddish eyes. Common household pests that spread bacteria.
Fruit Flies
Tiny flies with tan/brown bodies and distinct red eyes. Usually found near overripe produce and fermenting materials.
Gnats
Tiny flying insects (1-3mm) with delicate wings and slender bodies. Often found near houseplants, damp areas, or decaying organic matter. Can appear in swarms.
Mosquitoes
Small, midge-like flies with long, thin legs and a distinctive "needle" snout (proboscis). Often seen hovering in shaded, damp areas or around standing water.
Moths
Small to medium-sized insects with scale-covered wings. Clothes moths are beige/brown (1/2 inch), while pantry moths are larger with distinctive patterns. Larvae cause the actual damage to fabrics and food.
Ants
Small insects (1/8 to 1/4 inch) with segmented bodies, six legs, and bent antennae. Common species include carpenter ants (large, black), odorous house ants (small, brown), and pavement ants. Live in colonies and follow scent trails.
Cockroaches
Flat, oval-shaped insects (1/2 to 2 inches) with long antennae and spiny legs. Usually brown or reddish-brown. Highly resilient pests that thrive in warm, humid environments and are most active at night.
Spiders
Eight-legged arachnids ranging from tiny (1/8 inch) to large (over 1 inch). Common house spiders build webs in corners, basements, and garages. While most are harmless, their presence often signals a larger insect problem they are feeding on.
